| Ali Landry Biography
Ali Landry was born in Louisiana on July 21, 1973. She has one brother and her father was an oil refinery worker. She graduated from Cecelia High School in Cecelia, Louisiana in 1991. She then attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette), where she became a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She graduated from college with a BA in Mass Communications. After high school Landry started competing in beauty pageants. She was crowned Miss Louisiana Teen USA in 1990 and went on to be a semi-finalist at Miss Teen USA that year. In 1996 she was crowned Miss Louisiana and she won the Miss Photogenic award at Miss USA as well as the crown of Miss USA. She also competed that year in the Miss Universe pageant and finished among the top six finalists. Though she was steadily making herself known after winning beauty competitions and acting as Miss USA, Landry's big break came when she appeared in a Doritos commercial in 1997. The ad originally aired during the Super Bowl and featured Landry showing off her gymnastic skills. She was then known as "The Doritos Girl" and appeared in many other ads for the company. After Landry was launched into fame with her commercials, she began appearing on television in guest rolls, and graduated to reoccurring characters, including a roll on the syndicated Pensacola: Wings of Gold and a role on Felicity as Natalie, the unexpected spouse of series regular Scott Foley. Landry remained a consistent presence in low-budget and independent features, as well as network and syndicated television. In addition to her sole big-screen feature, the 2000 beauty pageant comedy Beautiful, she also appeared in the horror film Soulkeeper (2001), the National Lampoon sci-fi sex comedy Repli-Kate (2002), in which she played a genetically created "perfect woman," and a Playmate-style model in the juvenile Who’s Your Daddy? (2003). Meanwhile, her post-2000 television work included hosting the reality TV-revenge series Spy TV (2001-02), co-hosting the concert series Farmclub.com (2001), and the syndicated Full Frontal Fashion (2002-03). Landry returned to acting in 2003 with a pair of performances on the short-lived Fox action series Fastlane (2002-03) before joining the cast of Eve (2003-06) as one of rap-star Eve’s girlfriends, a former model. Landry was runner up when she participated on Fear Factor, and she is an avid athlete and participated in the Boston Marathon. Landry married longtime boyfriend Mario López on April 24, 2004, but two weeks later she had the marriage annulled because of allegations that he cheated on her during his bachelor party. She became engaged to film director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde on Memorial Day, 2005. They were married on April 8, 2006 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. |
