Claudia Schiffer was born on August 25, 1970, in Rheinberg, Germany. She began modeling in 1987 after being discovered in a night club in Düsseldorf, Germany. Her career took off in no time; she appeared in Elle magazine just weeks after being approached to model, followed by posing for Chanel.

Schiffer's popularity grew significantly in the early 1990s, when she was featured in multiple Guess? jeans advertisements. She has appeared in numerous ad campaigns since and walked the runway for many top designers. Schiffer has appeared on over 900 magazine covers, making her the record holder for most covers. She also appears in her self-designed annual calendar, and donates all profits to charity.

In addition to her highly successful modeling career, Schiffer has appeared in multiple films. She made her acting debut in 1993 in an episode of the Spanish TV series De tú a tú. The following year she appeared as the aerobics instructor in the family film Ri¢hie Ri¢h starring Macaulay Culkin. In 1997, Schiffer won her fist starring role in the drama The Blackout, and had another lead role in 1999's comedy Desperate But Not Serious. Also in 1999, Schiffer was seen in Friends & Lovers with Stephen Baldwin and Alison Eastwood, and alongside an all-star cast in Black and White.

In 2001, she starred opposite another Baldwin brother, Daniel, in In Pursuit, followed by an appearance in 2002's comedy Life Without Dick starring Sarah Jessica Parker. In 2002, Schiffer also guest starred in two episodes of Dharma & Greg. In 2003, she was part of the star filled cast of Love Actually, and guest starred in an episode of Arrested Development.
